Huayu (Mandarin) Message Writing and Short Video Contest – “Fantastic Taichung City”
Important Dates and Qualifications
- Submission Period: May 15 (Fri) to June 30 (Tue)
- Eligibility: International students who currently take Chinese Courses with credits in any university or enroll Huayu (Mandarin) courses at a Huayu (Mandarin/Chinese) center in Central Taiwan. However,Since this is a CFL contest and the focus is to motivate students who live in countries where Huayu (Mandarin/Chinese) is a foreign language, if participants come from a country where one of the official languages is Chinese (or the participant has a passport from a country where Chinese is an official language) and had learned Huayu over 2 years, that student cannot participate in the contest.

- Note: Do not plagiarize or use any AI-generated materials. Violators will be disqualified.
Competition Category Specifications
1. Message Writing
- Individual competition. Only one entry per person is allowed.
- Levels: Divided into Basic Group-A Level (TOCFL score 355+ recommended) and Intermediate Group-B Level (TOCFL score 500+ recommended).
- Word Count: Basic Group-A Level: 100-120 words / Intermediate Group-B Level: 150-180 words.
- Format: WORD or PDF file.

Naming:
School + Name. - Vocabulary Requirement: The following designated vocabulary and grammar must be used in the essay:
- Basic Group-A Level— 的 (possessive), 在, V過, 那/哪, Number+Measure word, V到, (不)喜歡, 很, 帶, 想 (Total of 10 items; must use at least 5).
- Intermediate Group-B Level — 多久, 非常, 覺得, 還是, V著, 因為…所以, 又…又, 從…到, 離, 有(一)點Vs, 好/難+V, 不但…還/也, 一邊…一邊, 地, 附近, 經過, 特別, 雖然 (Total of 18 items; must use at least 10).
2.Short Video
- Entries can be individual or group. Each person is limited to one group and one theme.
- Category: Divided into Taichung Category and Asia University Category. Participants must shoot and edit a video introducing in Mandarin famous attractions in Taichung or Asia University.
- Video Specs: Vertical 1080P video (1080x1920), size not exceeding 300MB, must include bilingual (Chinese/English) subtitles.
- Duration: 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

Category+School+Name (or Group Name). - Note: Please upload the video to your own YouTube channel and Google Drive, and ensure that the sharing and access permissions are fully enabled before providing the links.
Gratuitous Authorization Clause
The copyright of the submitted work shall be transferred to the organizer (ASIA University Chinese Language Center ) free of charge. The organizer reserves the permanent, worldwide right to use the work in any manner, including but not limited to public transmission, broadcasting, reproduction, and modification, and may publish the work on social media platforms and the university's official website without further compensation.
